1. Preheat the oven to 160°C (gas mk 3, 323°F). Gently heat the syrup and butter in a small pan until the butter has melted. 2. Mix the reamining ingredients in a large bowl. Add the warm butter and syrup, and mix well. 3. Place slightly flattened balls of the mixture onto baking trays lined with baking paper (or lightly greased baking trays). If the mixture is too crumbly to form balls, then add a little more melted butter. You should aim to get about 20 cookies. 4. Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes, until the cookies are golden brown. 5. Remove from oven, leave for a minute, and then transfer the cookies onto a wire rack to cool. Try to use whole rolled oats if possible, as these give the best results.
